My name is Johnny Taylor. I was raised in West Texas most of my life. I went to Anton High School so I know what a small town is like. I remember how the City Council wanted the kids to enjoy living there. Small town life doesn't mean we have to miss out on big time ideas. I grew up and raised my children as a single father in these small towns of West Texas. Small town life gave me the opportunity to appreciate the little things in life, to truly understand what we can accomplish as a TEAM. Kress, TX is where I call home but also is where I have found some opportunities to help steer the ship in a better direction than it may be headed. Unfortunately, our population in Kress has been declining and has been declining annually. If we don't make necessary changes to this city, we will only continue to lose more and more of our population. We don't have to accept that our small town will continue to lose population at a high rate. Funding will come from less households meaning higher taxes. I have heard of some small cities getting creative to fund small cities like extra fees or finding ways to issue citations in a tiny town.
Kress is a wonderful town that just needs strong leadership. The people of Kress deserve to know what happens and should be included in decision making. Decisions should be easy. They should have the best interest of the entire community and not just a select few of individuals on a city council board. I have ran several companies and I have been very successful with them. I was successful because I understood it took hard work to understand what people want. People want to be heard and understood. Most people can except decisions and change if their opinions are heard and we are working together to move the city in the right direction. My agenda is simple. I want to make living in Kress, TX a privilege and not a regret or disappointment I want Kress, TX to be a place to call home, not want to leave it. With my leadership, the people of Kress, Texas will have answers. ALL citizens will have their voice heard and their opinions matter. I will have the government transparent to all citizens. I understand the hard work and open-mindedness it will require to take on this role. I am ready! Are you? Let's do this together!!
